Michael F. Manning

1942 - 2021

August 18, 1942 - December 26, 2021 Beloved husband, father, grandpa, and dear friend Michael F. Manning of Great Kills, Staten Island, NY passed away peacefully at the Addeo House hospice on Staten Island. Born August 18, 1942 to the late Thomas and Mary Manning, brother to the late Lawrence, Harold, and Thomas Manning. He is survived by his brother Walter Manning and sister in law Camille Manning. Michael met his sweetheart Marilyn in Park Slope Brooklyn, NY when they were 14 and 15 years old. He graduated from Manual high school of Brooklyn, NY. Michael and Marilyn dated for years and married on September 15, 1963. Mr. Manning was a carpenter by trade and worked for Abraham & Straus (Federated Department Stores) for over 25 years until he retired early. Michael and Marilyn loved children but were unable to have children together of their own so they decided to go to Angel Guardian Home to adopt a child. At first they adopted Kerri Anne. Over the years the Mannings adopted 5 more children including Lisa, Patricia (who tragically passed on the same day as her father), John, Alex and Maria. Michael and Marilyn also cared for many foster children, in fact over 60 children have gone through the doors of their home. Michael loved fishing with his friends. He loved books, western movies, and crime dramas. Mr. Manning was a fourth degree member of Manresa Council Knights of Columbus and loved all his brother Knights. Michael is survived by his wife Marilyn and his children Kerri, Lisa, John, Alex, and Maria. Unfortunately his 46 year old daughter Patricia died on the same day. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Nicole, Trevor, Alicia, John, Abby and Domnick. A Celebration of life Memorial will be held for both Michael Manning and his daughter Patricia Hewitt at Colonial Funeral home on Saturday January 8th, 2022 from 2pm to 5pm.
