Raymond R. Orlando

Business owner, beloved father & grandfather, led a 'rich, long life' Raymond R Orlando, age 86, of Staten Island, N.Y., died unexpectedly on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2021, in University Hospital of unknown causes. Beside him were his son Richard and his wife, Rosalie. In Brooklyn, NY, he was born August 30, 1935, the seventh of nine children, to Italian Immigrants Dominic Frederico Orlando and Bianca Maria Fassanella. After graduating high school, he was married to Rosalie Lucille Coppola on June 6, 1959, which lasted for 62 years, and he was semi-retired until his passing. Raised in Borough Park Brooklyn, he would later move to Bensonhurst Brooklyn and eventually to Dongan Hills Staten Island. He and Rosalie would raise their children Richard, Robert, and Roslyn, followed by seven grandchildren. Ray graduated from Brooklyn's New Utrecht high school and received a Bachelor's degree from Baruch College in Manhattan and a Master's Degree from St. John's University. He owned and operated his own business, Seaver Transportation, specializing in traffic management and logistics. In addition, he later taught at St. John's University. He served as a private in the Army from 1950 to 1953, was active with political causes on Staten Island, and volunteered in Delta Nu Alpha's business organization. While raising his children, he also was involved with the Boy Scouts, Little League, and various church activities. Raymond, a Yankee fan, played tennis and traveled for business and his family. He enjoyed good books, movies, and especially Broadway shows. He kept in touch with his siblings, his in-laws, and their many children throughout his rich, long life. He will be greatly missed.
