Vivian Gabel Obituary

Beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother Vivian L Gabel of Lighthouse Hill passed away on August 18th. Born on November 28th 1927 to Mary Washbourne in Jersey City, she was adopted by George and Marguerite Lund of Highland Park, NJ. She was raised in New Jersey and Staten Island. She graduated from Tottenville High School and began working in Manhattan, before marrying her husband Richard C Gabel after he returned from serving in the US Navy in WWII. They raised their children in Oakwood. She was a member of Oakwood Heights Community Church. She returned to work serving as Vice President with the Muss Organization until her retirement. She then moved to Monmouth Beach, NJ where she enjoyed the shore life with her children and grandchildren, as well as traveling abroad. For the past 24 years she has enjoyed living on Lighthouse Hill. Beloved mother of Richard, Jr., Carol, Karl (Cynthia) and Paul (Paulette). Cherished grandmother and great-grandmother. Predeceased by her husband Richard C Gabel (2009), her infant son John, and her brother Paul Lund. Services will be held at Colonial Funeral Home, 2819 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10306. Visiting hours Monday 10:30 am - 12:30 pm. Interment Oceanview Cemetery.
