William Gagliardi Obituary

Navy veteran, gifted musician; 'passion for music was unmatched' William (Billy Gags), was born in Concord, SI on April 21, 1947. He was the eldest son of the late William, Sr. and Margaret Gagliardi. William was a US Navy Veteran, and dedicated husband and uncle. William is perhaps known best as a gifted musician. His passion for music was unmatched, and he served as an inspiration and mentor for many young musicians, including several of his nephews. He recorded many albums, toured Europe, and could often be found playing saxophone at Adobe Blues on a Saturday night. His love of music was only surpassed by his love and dedication to his family, whom he cared for tirelessly. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, JoAnne (nee Dempsey), nephew Kevin Kane, and siblings Theresa (Westrenen), John, Joseph, Vincent, and Thomas, as well as many nephews and nieces who miss him dearly. William left us on December 22, 2021 surrounded by loved ones. A memorial service will be held at Hanley Funeral Home, 60 New Dorp Lane, Staten Island, NY, 10306 on Tuesday December 28, 2021, from 2-6 pm.

So sorry to hear about Billy's passing. He was such a good friend and I loved riding with him to our gigs with the band for so many years. I often think of him and will remember him so fondly. RIP Billy Gags. I will always remember you.

I am so sorry to hear Billys passing in December !
My deepest sympathies to you , Mrs Gagliardi and the whole family ! Billy was twice time in Villach 7 Austria to play at the CIMPfestival ! I learned Billy not only as a great musician but also as a very special and wonderful person! I was very impressed by his joy, serenity, views and fantasies! Luckily I met him again in New York and spent a wonderful day with him, John Carlson and my wife! As a reminder of him I have the CD William Gagliardi live in Villach! Thank you Billy!

My deepest sympathies to you, JoAnne. I know you were the love of his life. I´m so grateful for the last few conversations with you and Billy. My Joey was so inspired by Billy´s passion for music that he became a musician himself. Blessings to you and Kevin, Billy´s family and friends. He will be truly missed.
