SIDNEY — Andrew Jacob Close, age 97 of Sidney, passed away Monday, November 23, 2020 at 2:14 AM at Wilson Health. He was born on October 27, 1923 in Anna, Ohio, the son of the late Adrian and Myrtle (Wilt) Close.
He was married to Arnie (Ross) who preceded him in death in 1991.
He is survived by two children, Marvin Close and his favorite daughter Diana (Mark) Caulfield both of Sidney, grandsons, Kyle Kelly, and Ryan Caulfield, Dan Close and Chris Close, granddaughters, Megan and Katelyn Caulfield, sister, Martha Plattner, best friend, Jacqueline Maxson of Sidney, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, David and Darrell Close, brother, Charles Close, and sister, Betty Eckhart
He never missed his Grandsons baseball games, his youngest grandson Ryan Caulfield earned a spot with the American Legion Baseball Program.
Mr. Close served his country as a US Army WWII veteran from 1943 to 1946. Following his service he was hired by the Copeland Corporation, where he worked for 43 faithful years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sidney.
The Family would like to thank each and every caregiver for making it possible for keeping Andrew in his home and also Wilson Health and Hospice.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 10 AM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Pastor Kenneth Castor officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will follow at Pearl Cemetery in Swanders. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 9 AM until the time of service.
