Anthony McLain Obituary

SIDNEY — Anthony Wayne McLain passed away, Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018.

He was born, June 29, 1971. He is survived by his wife, Bridget and their four sons, Alex, Austin, Andrew and Adam "AJ"; parents, Keith and Pamela (Mounts) McLain, of Sidney; one brother, Brian, and his wife, Kristen, and their three children, Megan, Amanda and Tyler, of Chesapeake, Virginia; Bridget's parents, Mike and Melda Hussey, of Sidney; brother-in-law, Shawn, and his three children, Casey (wife, Kasia), Madison and Malorie Hussey.

Anthony married Bridget Hussey, July 8, 1995. He was a firefighter/paramedic for the Sidney Fire Department, and Bridget is a kindergarten teacher at Northwood School. He dedicated his life to service and his community for which he will be greatly missed. Being a third generation firefighter after his father and uncle, Anthony was proud of being a firefighter for the Sidney Fire Department.

Anthony has had many accomplishments over his 19 years of service. He was a lead instructor for multiple northern Miami Valley initial firefighter certification classes and Proboard proctor through Sinclair, as well as the Apollo Career Center, Upper Valley JVS and Clark State. He was a core group instructor for Rapid Intervention Team and "Save Your Own," along with other miscellaneous outreach programs via the Shelby County Firefighter Association, of which he was an active member and had just been appointed nice president to represent the Sidney Fire Department.

Anthony was promoted to lieutenant in 2016 and was a trustee for the IAFF Local 912 union. To better the county and the department, he was the lead advocate for the purchase of the forcible entry door simulator. He also owned A & B Lawn Service.

Anthony and Bridget loved their four sons and watched them in all of their activities from Austin's playing Legion baseball and Tony's coaching, AJ playing's basketball, Andrew's playing drums in SHS marching band. They are so proud of Alex graduating early with two degrees, one in business and one in accounting, and working for Clark Schafer in Dayton. Fishing, camping and shooting at Deer Hunters were his hobbies. His family is devastated over their loss. They love him, and he will be missed greatly.

Adams Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

The viewing will be at Sidney First United Methodist Church, Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018, from 2 to 7 p.m.

Bridget, in the nine years I worked with you at Central Elementary, you were one of the kindest and most generous people I had ever met. You were a loving wife and mother and an excellent teacher. I feel so sorry for your tragic loss. May you find solace in the Lord and your wonderful sons.

It seems as if there aren't any words one can say to ease the pain but please know that I hope there is some bit of comfort in knowing many prayers are being said for the family and friends of Lt. McLain. His passion not only for his family but for his community will be one that will be greatly missed. May God wrap His loving arms around you and your family not only today, but all the days to come.
