SIDNEY — Cecil Staley, age 84 of Sidney, passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at 3:40 p.m. at Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born on Oct. 28, 1934, in McCreary County, Kentucky, the son of the late Palastine and Dovie C. (Taylor) Staley. On Oct. 1, 1955, he married Annie I. (Perry), who preceded him in death on May 10, 2003.
Cecil is survived by two sons, Ricky C. (Sharon) Staley, of Huber Heights, and Timothy S. Staley, of Sidney; three grandchildren, Kelly Asbury, Craig Staley and Tyler Staley; three great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Staley, Skyler and Travis Asbury; and seven siblings, Arvel Staley, Clonia Ball, Thurman (Imogene) Staley, Leroy (Linda) Staley, R.C. Staley, Geneva Taylor, and Carolyn (Tom) Gerros, and fiance, Patricia Fultz, of Sidney.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Eric Staley, and seven siblings.
Mr. Staley served his country as a U.S Army Korean War veteran from 1953 to 1955. He retired as a foreman from Copeland Corporation, and later retired from Wagner Ware Manufacturing. He was a founding member of Calvary United Baptist Church in Sidney.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019, at 10 a.m. at Calvary United Baptist Church, 9480 County Road 25A in Sidney, with Pastor David Shepherd officiating. Burial, with full military honors by the U.S. Army and Sidney American Legion Post 217, will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Sidney.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., Sidney.
Memorials may be made to Calvary United Baptist Church in memory of Cecil Staley.
