VERSAILLES - Edward J. Larger, age 79 of Versailles, Ohio died Saturday, July 24, 2021 at his home. He was born December 30, 1941 in Fort Loramie, Ohio to the late Elmer & Hilda (Goubeaux) Larger. He married Rachel (Harshbarger) in Winchester, Indiana.
Ed is also survived by daughter Teresa (Mike) Monnin; son Tim (Kelly) Larger; granddaughters Rachel Monnin and Liz Monnin; grandsons Ben Larger and Matt Larger (Amanda Luebke); great-granddaughter Addison and another great-grandchild on the way; siblings Anthony Larger, Elmer (Janice) Larger Jr., Ernest (Deborah) Larger, Joe (Mary) Larger, Rosemary (Mike) Stegall and Jean (Craig) Freeman; in-laws Greg Barhorst, Rosalee (John) Horn, Roberta Pitts, Ruby (Bob) Sibert and Joe (Teckla) Harshbarger.
He was preceded in death by his sister Carol Barhorst and in-laws Jim (Carol) Harshbarger and Dan Pitts.
Ed was a member of Saint Michael Catholic Church, Fort Loramie, Ohio. He had a life-long career with Dresser Industries beginning with LeRoi Dresser in Sidney, Ohio where he worked for 29 years in engineering, quality and management roles. He continued his career as Plant Manager for their Bradford, Pennsylvania operation and then Vice President of Manufacturing at Dresser Corporate headquarters in Houston, Texas before retiring in 2001 with 40 years of loyal service.
Ed and Rachel, his wife of 59 years, enjoyed spending their winters in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida. During the summer months they spent many hours at their woods near Russia, Ohio enjoying their vegetable and flower garden.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Russia, Ohio from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday, July 28, 2021. There will be no calling before the Thursday memorial mass.
A Catholic memorial mass will be held 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Saint Michael Catholic Church, Fort Loramie, Ohio with Reverend Stephen Shoup, celebrant. The family asks you to join them for a celebration of life to follow at Saint Michael Reception Hall. A private burial will be held at Saint Michael Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Versailles Fire and Rescue – Versailles, Ohio or Do Good Restaurant and Ministry – Osgood, Ohio. Condolences may also be left online at www.HogenkampFH.com.
