RUSSIA -- Iona Mae (Brunswick) Gariety, 90 of Russia, Ohio, passed away on Friday August 27, 2021 at 1:06 AM at Versailles Rehab and Healthcare Center, Versailles, Ohio.
Iona was born September 26, 1930 in Mercer County, Ohio the daughter of the late Ferd and Frances (Heitbrink) Brunswick.
Iona was a homemaker and a member of St. Remy Catholic Church; she was an excellent artist, cook and seamstress and loved her flowers and yard.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul N. Gariety on July 1, 2009 whom she married September 8, 1954; her son, Dale Gariety; her daughter, Doris Gariety; her siblings, Constant, Norma, Don, Alice, and Mark.
She is survived by her son, Dennis Gariety of Russia; daughters and sons in law, Diane and Ron Siegrist of Maria Stein and Darlene and Matt Monnin of Russia; grandchildren, Lindsey and Kevin Funk, Justin and Beth Siegrist, Eric Siegrist, Amanda and Matthew Hoying, Hillary and Collin Puthoff, and Olivia Monnin and fiancé Nic Francis; great grandchildren, Charlie and Oscar Funk, Cora, Molly, Ethan, Simon Hoying, Liam and Jade Puthoff.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday September 1, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Remy Catholic Church in Russia with Rev. Fr. Martin Fox Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Remy Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday August 31, 2021 and from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM on Wednesday at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Russia Fire Department.
