Jo Varner Obituary

LAS VEGAS, NV - Jo Ann (Huecker) Varner passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born on October 6, 1946, to Richard and Marcella (Crown) Huecker, who preceded her in death. A native of Sidney, Ohio, Jo Ann graduated from Holy Angels High School and attended the College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati, where she was a member of the Sisters of Charity. On August 3, 1968, she married Stephen Varner of Versailles, Ohio. Stephen survives, along with their daughter, Angela Doyle of Las Vegas, Nevada; their son, James Varner of Ely, Nevada; and grandchildren Jordyn, Matthew, and Megan Doyle, who brought Jo Ann great pride and joy. Jo Ann is also survived by her brothers, Philip (Mary Kaye) Huecker of Sidney, Ohio, and John Huecker of Springfield, Ohio; and by her sisters Joyce (Mike) Goubeaux of Sidney, Ohio, and Judy (Tim) Atwood of North Las Vegas, Nevada. She was preceded in death by her sister Jane (Roger) Roush and her brothers Ron and Dick Huecker. Throughout her life, Jo Ann worked with dedication and integrity. Early in her career she was employed by Copeland Refrigeration and LeRoi in Sidney, Ohio. She later worked at Neff Lettering in Greenville, Ohio, and assisted in operating the family's full-line music store, Harmony House, in Greenville from 1978 to 1986. While living in the Versailles area, she was an active member of St. Denis Catholic Church, where she taught religious education and served as a Cub Scout den mother and as a Girl Scout and Brownie leader. After relocating to Las Vegas in 1986, Jo Ann continued her career in accounting and retired as an Accounts Payable Supervisor from MGM Resorts International Design. Jo Ann will be remembered for her kind heart, quiet strength, and steadfast devotion to family. She enjoyed reading, bicycling, camping, cruising, RVing, and playing cards and games. Her warmth and generosity touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.

We met Jo through our membership in Family Motor Coach Association. Jo kept in touch with us for many years during and after that time. We will always remember Jo´s kind words to us every time we talked. She loved her sister, Jane, and we talked about her many times. Rest in Peace dear Jo.
