SIDNEY -- Logan E. Johnson, age 23, of Sidney passed away Saturday, June 11 at his apartment in Washington DC. He was born on August 16, 1998 in Akron, OH, the son of Brian and Tammi (Comella) Johnson. Logan is survived by his parents, his two brothers Caleb and Nathan, his grandparents Dennis and Debbie Johnson, and his extended family members Mark and Michelle (Johnson) Rudasill, Evan and Jayden Sells, Brook (Rudasill) Hill, Easton Rudasill; Kevin and Dawn Comella, Jessica and Emily Comella. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Daniel and Barbara Comella.
Logan graduated from Sidney High School in 2017. He was an active member of the music program and captain of the high school swim team. Logan then continued his studies at the University of Toledo where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacology/Toxicology and a second degree in Biology. During his time at UT, Logan was also actively involved in Greek Life as an active member of Alpha Zeta Omega, holding multiple leadership and officer positions. Logan also worked as an Undergraduate Researcher at the University of Toledo College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Services. During his studies, Logan assisted other students as a Supplemental Instructor (SI) in Anatomy and Physiology.
Upon earning his degrees, Logan was offered, and accepted, a Post Baccalaureate position at the National Institute of Health (NIH) where he worked as a researcher in studies on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.
Logan was a friend and mentor to many. His life was lived in a way to inspire others to be 'unapologetically' themselves. He desired to make a positive impact in this world through science and medicine. Though undecided, Logan was encouraged by his mentors to pursue his doctorate, further his studies, and continue in the pursuit of his visions and dreams. Logan's time in this world ended far too soon, but in the short time he had, he has established a history and legacy of love and acceptance that will live on through his family, his friends, and anyone who shared the pleasure of his acquaintance.
A celebration of life, where we will celebrate all that Logan was and is, in a safe space, where all are welcome to join, will be held at Piqua Grace Church, 9411 N. County Road 25A, Piqua OH 45356 the afternoon of Saturday, June 18th from 1:00 – 5:00 PM. Services will be held at the church at 5:00 PM for family and friends in attendance. Arrangements are in the care of Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to The Trevor Project or the Human Rights Campaign in Logan's honor. Condolences may be made to the family at www.cromesfh.com
