PIQUA -- Thomas A. Bodey, 69, of Piqua, more recently of Sidney, passed away at 9:52 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at the Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit. He was born November 24, 1951 in Troy to the late Verl R. and Alice M. (Menz) Bodey Sr. He married Carol Roussos December 15, 1973 in Mt. Sterling Kentucky; and she survives.
Other survivors include one son, Stephen (Stephanie) Bodey of Piqua; one daughter, Kate (Ryan) Oliver of Westerville; and five grandchildren, Gavin, Kaden, Alyssa, Iris, and Owen. He was preceded in death by one brother, Verl R. Bodey, Jr.
Mr. Bodey was a 1970 graduate of Piqua Central High School where he excelled in sports, especially football and softball; and a 1975 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University. He worked as field data administrator for the former Copeland Corp. from which he retired. He was a past member and Elder at the Disciples of Christ Church. He was a great softball player and played most of his life including through his college career. He enjoyed woodworking, and whittling. Additionally, he enjoyed fishing and tying flies. He loved to bird watch and was working to complete the Cornell Bird Club classes. Most importantly, he adored his grandchildren and would light up every time they were around. He will be remembered for his "can do" attitude and his kind and gentle nature.
A service to honor his life will begin at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Coulter officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00-4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Dorothy Love through the Ohio Living Foundation 9200 Worthington Rd.
