Clement Paul "Mitch" Mitchell

1925 - 2021

Clement Mitchell passed away on September 28, 2021 peacefully at his loving board and care in Santa Clarita, CA at 96 ½ with his daughters by his side, where he lived since March 2018. He was born January 15, 1925 in Greenwich, CT.

Mitch resided in Simi Valley from 1963 to 2004 with his wife Stephanie of 55 years; moved to Friendly Valley Retirement Community in 2004 where Stephanie passed in 2006 at 85 years old. He was remarried to Rosalie Phillips that year, also a resident of Friendly Valley, who then passed in 2011.

Mitch was a WWII Veteran in the 82nd Airborne at age 18 and a Purple Heart recipient and was always very proud to have served his country. He was a 2nd and 4th grade teacher in Simi Valley for over thirty years. Mitch played the violin and taught the Suzuki Method to several private students in Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks and at local music schools. He was a member of the Conejo Valley Orchestra and the Santa Clarita Orchestra, "Orchestron". His hobbies included tennis, golf, cycling, singing, dancing, and running a marathon at age 58.

After retirement, he continued his love of playing the violin and entertained the lunch crowd twice a week at the Santa Clarita Senior Center, in addition to singing with an accompanist on piano, and dancing every chance he could.

Mitch was known by many to have the kindest of hearts and a very loving, easy going demeanor. A wonderful Father, Grandfather, Uncle and Friend.
Survivors include his two daughters; Kathy Mitchell Bailon of Valencia, CA, Maryellen Mitchell of Granada Hills, CA and three grandchildren; Nellie -30, Tommy 27, and Zachary 20.

Funeral service will be at 10:30am, Monday, October 18, 2021 at Assumption Catholic Cemetery, 1380 Fitzgerald Road, Simi Valley, CA.
