Joan Ropa Obituary

76, passed away suddenly on January 27, 2012 in Indio, CA.

Joan was born in 1935 in Cincinnati, OH. She moved to Southern California in the 1960's and resided in Canyon Country, CA with her family for many years. She retired from the Los Angeles Unified School District. Joan led an active life and loved to travel; she raised show dogs and horses, played bridge, golf, and flew airplanes with her husband.

Joan was an active member in several Southern California organizations, including the Women's Public Links Golf Association, Valencia Women's Golf Club, Whispering Pines Golf Club, as well as the Elk's Camper Club and Moose Lodge of Santa Clarita.

Joan is survived by her husband Larry J. Ropa; mother Esther H. Stoneking; children Deborah L. Mansfield, Diane S. Brewster, and Larry J Ropa II; grandchildren: David and Daniel Mansfield, Jessica and Madison Clark, Kelsey and Bryn Ropa; four great-grandchildren; niece Jennifer Stoneking-Stewart and nephew Jeffrey E. Stoneking. She was preceded in death by her father Charles E. Stoneking and brother Jerry E. Stoneking.

Memorial services will be on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 from 1:00-3:00 PM at Robinson Ranch Country Club, 27734 Sand Canyon Rd., Santa Clarita, CA 91387.

My heart just breaks for all of you. Joan was a super sweet lady, a great wife, daughter, Mom, Grandmother, Aunt, Cousin. I will miss her emails and letters. May you all be blessed with beautiful memories and the knowledge that you will all be together again someday. Much love from your Stoneking cousins.
