John Lamond Obituary

Superhero dad John Robert Lamond III departed Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 3:33 p.m. after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. John was sent off with love by son, John Robert Lamond IV, and daughter, Wendy Lee Lamond-Broughton, by his side. Service: A celebration of his life will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at De Cordova Bend Country Club, 5301 Country Club Drive, Granbury, 76049. John was born April 23, 1943, in Guthrie, Okla. Against odds, with determination, he was the first member of his family to graduate college, proudly having attended TCU. He served his beloved USA in Vietnam. Then he took over his family's small office supply shop, and grew it into a successful printing company, Tarrant Printing, with over 200 employees. He retired to Granbury, where he enjoyed the Texas sun and sunny friendships even more. Eternally optimistic and looking for his next adventure, John was launching an acting career with the help of his daughter. Dad complained little, worked hard, and gave much. Never has there been, or will there be, a creature as unique and fantastic. John joins his wife, Susanne Lamond; sister, Raye Lea Lamond; and brother, William Duke Lamond, all of whom preceded his death, also all three to cancer. Also his parents, John Robert Lamond and his mother, Willie Belle Lamond. Survivors: His son and daughter; his loving daughter-in-law, Renee Lamond; son-in-law, Richard Broughton; stepson, Tracy Duren; stepdaughter-in-law, Kim Duren; grandchildren, Jordan Lamond, Nicholas Lamond, Blair Broughton, Bryce Broughton, Madison Duren, and Kacy Duren. His family of friends include Carrie, DonLita, Con, Billy and Kathy. He is missed but we will hold him in our hearts forever.

Thank you all so much for your kind words. Now that the dust is beginning to settle remembering the kind words and support I've received over the last few weeks and Saturday night is a comfort to me. I am going to print out these condolences and put them with the cards I have. Reading over them touches me so much. Love, ~Wendy

John was one of the funniest and dearest friends I had while at Birdville. He shall truly be missed.

I treasure the friendship, conversations, and good times that John and I shared since we were barely past being teenagers. His bright personality insured that he "always walked in the sunshine" and his gift was that he carried his friends right alone with him. John loved life and lived it to the fullest. He will be missed!
My heart goes out to Wendy,John lV and his precious grandchildren.

You were my first friend when my family moved to Richland Hills in 1956. Over the years, we were in and out of touch with each other, but the sincere friendship was always there. I feel so fortunate that we reconnected over the last few years. I'm missing you already.

My condolences and thoughts are with the entire family. John was a genuine, honest human being and was devoted to his family.
The world was a better place while he was living.

The end of an Era. John, Thank You for being the best Boss anyone could have. You took care of all of your employees as if we were your family. You, Duke, "The Old Man" and the lovely Willie Belle treated all of us like family and made sure we had what we needed. Rose and I to this day still talk about the good old days. Cuatro and Wendy y'all are in our prayers. You know you had a wonderful dad and we had a wonderful Boss. Our family will never forget Tarrant Printing and the family behind it.

I am very sorry to hear of the passing of John. We had lost touch in the years since he retired and moved to Granbury. I knew John and his Dad (he called me Jonesey)from the printing business for quite a few years. But, John was also a Moslah Patrolman at the same time as my husband. We had a lot of fun times together what seems like forever ago. He was a good man. My condolences to his family.
