VaNile Risser was born November 29, 1926. She passed away peacefully at age 98 of natural causes related to age, on Monday July 28, 2025, in Lehi Utah. VaNile was the only daughter of Milo Clawson Lewis and Coral (Carol) Allen Lewis, of Ogden, Utah.
She enrolled in Utah Agricultural College (now Utah State University) in Logan, Utah. While attending college, VaNile joined the Chi Omega Sorority and earned a certificate in Secretarial Sciences. The secretarial certificate would eventually qualify her to work with some of the top aeronautical engineers at Lockheed's Burbank Facility and Foxboro in Santa Clarita.
VaNile married Gordon Risser, Sr. on April 3, 1950, in the LDS Mesa, AZ temple, and would eventually have four daughters and two sons. They would remain married for forty-eight years, until Gordon's passing in 1998.
In 1964, VaNile and Gordon moved with their six children from Burbank to Canyon Country, in the Santa Clarita Valley. They would call Santa Clarita home for the next sixty years.
She and Gordon were very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints their entire lives. Due to age, it recently became necessary for VaNile to leave her much beloved home and many friends and move to Lehi, Utah.
VaNile is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon, her brother Paul Lewis, and her sister Carolyn Lee Schwartz.
She is survived by her children Gordon Jr. (Cherryl) Risser, Toni (Stephen) Fairbanks, Becky (John) Ashley, Sydney Risser, April (Don) Kasch, Jeff (Michele) Risser, Michael (Leslie) Jennings, her sister Cheryl Russell and her sister-in-law Lucille Lewis. She is survived by twenty-eight grandchildren, sixty-seven great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren, along with many nephews and nieces.
VaNile's memorial service will be held Friday, August 29th at 11 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 19513 Drycliff St., Canyon Country, CA 91351.
