W.P. Rutledge Obituary
Reverend W.P. "Tex" Rutledge, PhD, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2014, in Santa Clarita, CA. He was born January 3, 1926 in Merkel, TX.
He pastored numerous churches in New Mexico, Northern California, Oregon, and for the past 16 years, in Santa Clarita, CA. He was also Dean of Students for 13 years at Northwest University in Kirkland, WA.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Wini, and his 3 children: Stephen (Theresa) Rutledge of San Francisco, CA, Stanton (Melissa) Rutledge of Santa Clarita, CA, and Susan Gutierrez of San Diego, CA. He leaves 6 grandchildren: Rick (Karen) Jeffers, Wendy Jeffers, Alexa Rutledge, Jonathan Rutledge, Angel Rutledge, and Michael Rutledge. He also leaves 5 great-grandchildren.
The family wants to thank Elder Creek Villa and Valley Hospice Service for their special care over the past several weeks. Services will be held at New Life Assembly, 27053 Honby Ave, Santa Clarita, CA on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. A private internment is planned. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Praise Chapel of SCV, 25876 The Old Road, #39, Santa Clarita, CA 91355.

Thank you for the blessing of sharing Pastor Tex with us. He has left quite a legacy and blessed many. What an amazing example of how to live. He will be missed.

My heart was so sad when I heard of Pastor Tex's passing. He was a gentle soul with such passion in his preaching. He made the world a better place and I am blessed to have known him. Much love to Wini, Stan, and Melissa. I pray your memories carry you through your pain.
