Betty Sandbulte, 85, of Carmel, Iowa died May 25, 2022, at Sioux Center Health, in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 28, 2022, at the Carmel Reformed Church in Carmel, Iowa with Rev. Mark Heijerman and Rev. Steve Van Wyhe, officiating. Burial will follow in the Carmel Cemetery of Carmel. Visitation will be Friday with family present from 5-7 p.m. at the Carmel Reformed Church. The Sandbulte family prefer memorials be directed to the Carmel Cemetery Fund. Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
Betty Jean (Van't Hof) Sandbulte was born on May 13, 1935, on a farm near Alton, Iowa, the daughter of Bernard and Henrietta (Kleinhesselink) Van't Hof. She attended school in Newkirk for a short time then attended and later graduated from Sioux Center High School.
On March 26, 1953, she was united in marriage to Delmar Sandbulte at the Carmel Reformed Church, rural Rock Valley, Iowa. The couple lived and worked on the Sandbulte family farm, where they raised their nine children. Betty was an active member of the Carmel Reformed Church, where she played piano and organ for many different events. She also served with the Ladies Aid and was involved in Bible study. Betty was a very talented seamstress making clothes for her children (Jingle Socks for her girls) and doing alterations on wedding dresses for friends and family. She was always busy either sewing, knitting, crocheting, or quilting. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and making flower arrangements for wedding. She will be greatly missed.
Betty is survived by her nine children and their spouses, Alan (Cheryl) Sandbulte of Maurice, Iowa, Sidney (Deb) Sandbulte of Hull, Iowa, Nora (David) Bohl of Ireton, Iowa, Vincent (Sue) Sandbulte of Sioux Center, Owen (Teresa) Sandbulte of Carmel, Iowa, Joanne (Rodney) Moget of Sioux Center, Iowa, Harvard (Trish) Sandbulte of Sioux Center, Henry (Rhonda) Sandbulte of Sioux Center, and Jerry (Candy) Sandbulte of Little Rock, Iowa; 24 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Rodney (Karlene) Van't Hof of Sioux Center and Gene (Becky) Van't Hof of Eden Prairie, Minn.; nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Henrietta Van't Hof; husband, Delmar Sandbulte; granddaughter, Danielle Sandbulte; brother, Roger Van't Hof; sister, Florence Sandbulte; and son-in-law, Willard Haverhals.
