Chad Michael Gritzmaker
1974 - 2023
Chad Michael Gritzmaker, age 49, of Corning, Iowa, born and raised in Sioux City, passed away peacefully after a brave battle with cancer where he always lived in small boxes of hope.
Chad was born on September 2, 1974, in Sioux City, IA, the son of Gerald and Glenda (Felix) Gritzmaker. He attended Bishop Heelan high school where he wrestled. He was a lifelong fan of all things Bishop Heelan and his Catholic education of discipline. The learnings of polite expressions of gratitude and appreciation meant so much to him.
After graduating from Bishop Heelan, Chad went on to college at Iowa State and Briar Cliff University.
Chad was a great golfer and enjoyed this past-time with his friends in both Sioux City and Corning. He loved tennis and fulfilled a bucket list item attending Wimbledon. He enjoyed traveling the world, especially beach vacations where he fell in love with his wife Ashley. He had so many friends and was a connector of people. His thoughtfulness and meaningful connection with people will never be forgotten.
Prior to working at Century 21 he worked in banking. He joined Century 21 ProLink in 2014 and received the Rookie of the Year Award in 2015. He achieved the Iowa Top 100 and C21 ProLink Own It Award for several years. He also earned his Fine Homes and Estates Designation. He was instrumental in their Neighbors Helping Neighbors Pizza Drive during COVID.
Chad was married to Ashley Anne Neils on May 18, 2013, at Blessed Sacrament in Sioux City, Iowa. They resided there for many years. More recently they lived in Corning, IA where they were blessed with Banks Andrew Gritzmaker on June 9th, 2022, and he proved to be the most loving father. He was so proud of his family.
He did anything and everything for Banks. Just like he did for all his friends, he taught us to always show up for others.
Chad loved his dogs. Noah-Bear greeted him in heaven along with his Moose who stayed by his side until the very end. Toby will be with Ashley and Banks forever loving Chad.
Chad is survived by his wife, Ashley, and their son Banks Gritzmaker. His parents, Jerry and Glenda Gritzmaker, as well as his brother, Nick (Melissa) Gritzmaker and their two children Jasper and Van Gritzmaker of Sioux City, IA.
