Clifford W. Roost, 91, of South Sioux City passed away Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021, at a local hospital.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Visitation with the family present will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Clifford was born July 10, 1930, in Newcastle, Neb., the son of Otto and Rose (Johns) Roost. He married Nina Jewel on May 23, 1951, in Newcastle. To this union, five children were born. Nina passed away April 26, 2014, in Dakota City.
Clifford began working at a young age, helping on the Bud McCloughlin farm. He then farmed on his own for 15 years, before working for Bahr Plumbing, the City of Dakota City, and IPB in maintenance. Clifford also owned and operated his cement yard ornament business for many years.
He was a volunteer fireman for the Dakota City Fire Department for 24 years and a member of the Dakota City United Methodist Church. Clifford was known for his story-telling abilities and as master of jokes. He loved boating, bowling, fishing, playing horseshoes, and cheering on his beloved Nebraska Huskers.
Survivors include his children Terry (Chong) Roost of Ione, Calif., Pam (Dale) Buettner of Anthon, Iowa, David (Barbie) Roost of Onawa, Iowa, Debra Fulcher of Westminster, Colo., and Lori (Cliff) Wendt of Lakeview, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; many great- and great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters Yvonne and Doris.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; wife Nina; six siblings; and a son-in-law Randy Fulcher.
The family would like to thank Wendy, Chemane, and Barb at Regency Square for their special care of Dad.
