Gerald William Barber, 93 of Remsen passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at a local hospital.
There will be a visitation with family present on from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. Burial will follow in the Logan Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Graveside military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 3328 and American Legion Post 220 of Remsen. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. Gerald was born May 7, 1928, to Benjamin & Stella (Baney) Barber at Jackson, Neb. He grew up near Jackson and graduated from South Sioux City Community High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in January 1946.
He worked in sales for McKesson Robbins, management for Bellas Hess, before owning small businesses in Texas, Minnesota, and Iowa.
Gerald owned a boat most of his life and enjoyed fishing. He was an avid reader, enjoyed classic tenor music, and movie westerns.
Gerald is survived by his four children Marcia "Marcie" (Jeff) Biggerstaff of Sioux City, Mark (Misty) Barber of Big Stone Lake, S.D., Mike Barber of Richmond, Texas, and Dave (Heather) Barber of Westfield, Iowa; stepdaughter, Patricia "Trish" (Ron) Wurth of Remsen; grandsons Mac, Dustin and his fiancée, Makenzie, Mike and his wife Brittany, Darric and his significant other Alyssa, and Caleb; two granddaughters Jordan and Lauren; and five great-grandchildren Braydon, Natalee, Jett, Brooks, and Nixen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Charles, Edgar, Clifford, Mary, and Eunice.
Casket bearers will be Mark Barber, and Dustin, Mike, Darric, Caleb, and Braydon Wurth.
