Jack Lyle Daniels
Sioux Falls, S.D., formerly Sioux City
Jack Lyle Daniels passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the age of 70 after battling a long illness.
There will be a short military memorial service held for Jack at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 23, at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, 34024 Veterans Memorial Dr, Adel, Iowa.
Jack grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Bishop Heelan High School in 1970. He married Christine Clark in the winter of 1971, and they moved to San Diego, Calif., where he served in the US Navy from 1972-1976 as an electrician 2nd class aboard the USS Sperry. Jack and Chris moved back to Sioux City with two children (Kim and Jack) and soon after welcomed their third (Andy). Jack continued to work as an electrician with a local power company while earning his business degree from Wayne State College. He later took a job with Mid- American Energy and relocated to Des Moines, Iowa, as a trainer for dispatchers and eventually onto Indianapolis, Ind., where he worked as a systems operator with MISO.
Jack absolutely loved gardening, fishing, boating, camping and "solid gold oldies." Being out on his boat was his happy place. He was one of the most patient fishermen anyone ever knew. This also made him a great trainer and coach. He loved playing soccer and became a coach and a referee for many years supporting the Siouxland Soccer Association and the YMCA generously with his time and showing his love of the game to many Siouxland youth.
Jack is survived by Chris and their three children, Kim of Sheridan, Ind., Jack (Marla) of Reno, Nev., and Andy (Kristen) of Arlington Heights, Ill.; sister Korinne (Bob) Wolf of Bay View, Idaho; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Lyle and Dorothy Daniels.

I remember Jack as my first soccer coach along with Chris. He was a very fun and inspiring man. I would talk to him from time to time as I was a friend and classmate with his daughter Kim. I remember one funny story he told me one day. He said he took Andy's umbilical cord stump after it fell off, and put it in Kim and Jack's cereal box to see if they would find it in their bowl of cereal! As a kid I was horrified but laughing hysterically, and never knew if he was being serious with me or not!
Rest in Peace Jack.

Chris- oh, how so many memories of you and Jack came flooding back when reading this. The little step stool is still in our Master Bthrm- your handwritten note too is front and center reminding me of our many laughs and stories. I smile often bc of it thinking back on those days.
Miss you tremendously and will be praying for you.
May you relive all the fond memories you have and find peace too.

Jack was a very good friend of mine for many years. We work together at Iowa public service and MidAmerican Energy. I was an apprentice electrician when I first met Jack when he came to work At Iowa public service. Jack taught me a lot and help me through my apprenticeship. I also played soccer with Jack. He was one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. He was always willing to help anyone. And most of the electricians at the power plant leaned on him for his skill and knowledge. Jack loved his children and his wife. I just learned tonight that he had passed away, Jack and I had lost track of each other after he moved to Des Moines. My condolences to Chris and their children. Mike, Sweeney.

Jack and I played Babe Ruth baseball back in the 60's. Jack was my catcher when I pitched. The last year we played together I pitched 2 no hitters and 2 one hitters. Jack was the only one who could catch me. What a nice nice guy he was. Fond memories, Mike Allner

Dear Chris and family,
It´s with much sadness that I just read of Jacks passing. He helped me through the electrical program at IPS when we worked together at Port Neal. He´s tutoring was the thing that saved me, that and all the stories about his time in the service. We spent several nights trouble shooting down at Neal. I will always hold him high because he was one of the best always willing to share and always willing to help. May he rest in peace.

Chris and family, so sorry to hear of Jacks passing. Worked with Jack at IPS/MidAmerican, at the power plant and again in the Control Center. Jack loved to teach whether it be new controllers or young boys playing soccer. He spent time with my son coaching and teaching him skills on the soccer field, will never forget my time with Jack. College classes, work, or the Soccer Field.
