A short graveside service where her cremated remains will be buried will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2021, with family and close friends. Janice graduated in 1956 from Central High School in Sioux City. She worked for many years in the insurance industry, retiring from Farmland Insurance Companies after 25 years of service. She was married to David O. Campbell in 1972. He preceded her in death in 1974.
She was a long time member of her church on the south side of Des Moines. Those of you who were friends with Jan knew her to be a giving person with a heart of love and endurance.
With the exception to the many of ruckus I created, she led a pretty quiet and simple life, something I have come to appreciate greatly. Mom truly was a person who showed neighborly love to all. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Janice is survived by her son Scott Atkinson; twin sister Jane Ward of Sioux City; brother Don Johnson of Mesa, Ariz; several cousins; four grandchildren, Alex, Taylor, Abbie, and David; three great-grandchildren, Della, Bennie, and Reign, nieces Jackie, Judy, Robin; nephew Johnny; and many friends.
During a time like this, we realize how much our family and friends mean to us. Your expressions of comfort and sympathy will always be remembered.

I knew Jane, Janice, Don and Mrs. Johnson when we lived in Sioux City. All of us attended Bethany Lutheran Church and Don was my classmate. I always enjoyed visiting with them all, such a wonderful family. Rest in peace Jane.
