Jeanette I. Peterson, 86, of Holstein passed away on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Society of Holstein.
Visitation will be held today from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home. Immediately following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at the Diamond Township Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Fells officiating. Jeanette Irene Gosch Peterson was born Dec. 10, 1934, to Lloyd and Evelyn (Wiebersch) Gosch, outside of Odebolt, Iowa. She passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Society in Holstein, on Jan. 23, 2021.
Jeanette married Donald F. Peterson on Nov. 16, 1953, in Schaller, Iowa. To this union, four children were born: Jacqueline, Russell, Marcia, and Michael.
Jeanette was a homemaker and held several positions in the communities where they resided. Most notably, her favorite position was as a civil secretary for the Ida County Sheriff's department. The family moved often as Don was a USDA meat inspector.
Jeanette is survived by her husband of 67 years, Don Peterson; children Jacquie Sanchez of Aurora, Colo., Russ (Diane) Peterson of Norfolk, Neb., and Mike (Lori) Peterson of Cushing, Iowa; grandchildren Anthony (Challeni Nuss) Sanchez of Minatare, Neb., and children, Jocyeln and Gavin Nuss, Teresa (Hemal Patel) Sanchez of Washington, D.C. and Evelyn Sanchez Patel, Andrea Sanchez of Fort Collins, Colo., and children, Maryssa and Mercedes Ramirez, Adam (Amber) Peterson of Norfolk and children Henry and Francis Peterson, Jenny Peterson of Omaha, Neb., Danielle (Jason) Martin of Holstein and children Kyra, Aiden, Vada, and Jase Martin, Noah Peterson of Correctionville, Iowa, Ben (Jessica) Lau of Moville, Iowa, and children Audrey, Autumn, Gage, Tobias, Pacen, and Charlie, and Shelbey (Chantz) Shermer of Burwell, Neb., and children, Josey Babcock and Colton Shermer; brother, Jerry (Dee) Gosch, Terril, Iowa; sister, Kay (Cal) Muller, Norwalk, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Evelyn Gosch; sister, Betty Sanders; daughter, Marcia Peterson Loucks; and granddaughter, Rashell Nelson.
