Karen Castor Obituary

Karen Sue Castor, age 79, of Apple Valley, Minnesota, passed away on September 29, 2023. She was born on January 28, 1944, in Homer, Nebraska, to Glen and Lida Hinkle.

Karen is survived by her daughter, Diana Castor Orth, and her husband, Doug from Farmington MN. Karen was predeceased by her husband Charles, her parents Glen and Lida Hinkle, her brother and sister-in-law, Franklin and Mary Ellen Hinkle, and her sister Mary Calkins. She was also preceded in death by her in-laws Wilburt and Ruth Castor, and many Castor brothers and sisters-in-law.

Karen enjoyed listening to record albums, particularly country western music, with Johnny Cash being her favorite artist. She loved spending time with friends and family, engaging in conversations over coffee or tea. Karen found joy in activities such as coloring, word finds, crossword puzzles, playing cards, and engaging in arts and crafts. She had a lucky streak when it came to playing Bingo and took pride in her collection of nick knacks, stuffed animals, and beanies that she won. Karen greatly missed her friends after moving to Minnesota and often thought of them. Karen's love for her home state of Nebraska remained strong, and she never missed watching the Nebraska Cornhuskers games when they were televised. Go Huskers!

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Walthill. Karen will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Charles, at the Decatur Cemetery, fulfilling their wish to be buried together. Charles passed away on October 12, 2011.
