Kelli Thoma Obituary

Kelli Sue Thoma

Sioux City

Kelli Sue Thoma, 52, of Sioux City died in a vehicle accident on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at The Cathedral of the Epiphany Catholic Church with Father David Esquiliano as Celebrant. Burial at Calvary Cemetery will be at a later date. Visitation, with the family present, will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with a Vigil Service beginning at 5 p.m. Online condolences can be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Kelli was born on July 28, 1969, in Sioux City at St. Vincent Hospital to Robert J. and Sharon I. (Davis) Thoma. She received her education at North High School and graduated in 1987. She worked as a veterinary technician at South Sioux City Animal Hospital before attending Iowa State University's College of Veterinary Medicine. While at Iowa State, she received her Doctorate degree on May 9, 1998. Additionally, she graduated with honors, was in the top 5% of her class, and was on the Dean's List. Kelli went on to work at South Sioux City Animal Hospital as a doctor.

Kelli loved each and every one of her patients. However, she loved her Doberman, Satin, and her cats Oreo, Pixel, and Fat Ass dearly. Later on, Kelli went to work for various other employers. Kelli was the secretary for the Interstate Veterinary Medicine Association for a period of time. She also enjoyed judging animal fairs.

It is very difficult to say goodbye to someone we loved and cherished. May the hearts of those who loved her be filled with memories of her job.

Kelli is survived by her father Robert J. (Bob) Thoma and his wife, Charlotte of Sioux City; mother Sharon Karrer and her husband Richard of Sioux City; sisters Rhonda Foote of Sioux City, and Kristine (Kris) Beaumier of Sioux City; half-brother Shane (Sara) of Atlanta, Ga.; stepbrothers Aaron Clay (Joanna) of Chillicothe, Ill., Adam Clay (Jennifer) and Tony Clay (Jill) of Kearney, Mo.; stepsisters Rhonda Brink (Dave) of Bronson, Iowa, Christine Clay of Owatonna, Minn., Shelly Breygogle (Joel) of Kearney, Martha McLaughlin (Adam) of Watertown, Minn., and Cindy Jackson of Omaha, Neb.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

Kelli is preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; brother-in-law Paul Beaumier; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

My thoughts and prayers to the Thoma family for your loss. I was a 1987 North High School classmate of Kelli, and I remember having her in a few of my classes. She always had a smile on her face and was a very nice classmate. May she Rest In Gods Peace.

Bob, I was so saddened to see the notice of Kellie's passing. You and all of your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I remember all the good times we had boating on the Missouri River and sitting around the campfire and telling jokes and stories. May your good memories help you at this time. RIP Kelli
