Being outdoors, whether it was soaking up the sun while reading, hiking or camping, brought her much tranquility. Michele also enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren by creating new ways to make activities fun.

Grateful for having shared her life are her loving partner of 15 years, Andy Peterson; children, Nicholas (Suzi Cooke) Beesley of Sioux Falls, Nathan (Kyle Comes) Beesley of Sioux Falls, Mollie (David Roggensack) Dereszynski of Athens, Ala., and Tom (Casey Peterson) Dereszynski of La Crosse, Wis.; cherished grandchildren, Annika, Benjamin, Lukas and David Jr; sister, Kathryn (Harlan) Zwak; and brother, Alan "Duke" Carroll.

January 7, 2021

In 4th grade we moved to the Longfellow school area. I met a neighbor boy and asked about 4th grade girls in the neighborhood. He gave me 3 names.

I came home looked up their numbers and called saying, Hi this is Kathy Johansen, I just moved here. Will you be my friend?" Michele Carroll said, "can you come over right now with your barbies? I went over.

I slept over that night and we became best friends. We listened to this song many times together.

Goodbye Michelle my little one
You gave me love and helped me find the sun
And every time that I was down
You would always come around
And get my feet back on the ground
Goodbye Michelle it's hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky
Now that the spring is in the air
With the flowers everywhere
I wish that we could both be there
