Vicki Whaley, 66, of Des Moines passed away in her home after a 13-year battle with Parkinson's disease on Friday, Feb. 3, 2023.
Service will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, March 24, at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 2900 49th St, Des Moines.
Vicki was born in Sioux City to Waldo and Carol McCuddin. She was a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa and was a teacher in Dunedin, Fla., and with the Des Moines Public Schools for 34 years. She touched the lives of countless students throughout her career and will be remembered for her passion for education and her kind, caring nature.
Vicki loved spending time outdoors, particularly camping with her friends, family, and her dog Ringo. She cherished the memories made on these trips and the laughter and love shared during those special moments.
In addition to her love for the outdoors, Vicki was an exceptional mother and wife. She cherished her family and was always there to support and encourage them. Her love for her husband, children, and grandchildren will forever be remembered and cherished. She will be deeply missed.
Vicki is survived by her husband of 44 years Chuck; daughter Julia (Eric) Emley and their two girls, Brooklyn and Vivian, of Urbandale, Iowa; daughter Jennifer (Justin) Daggett and their son Gabriel of Guthrie Center, Iowa; and two brothers David McCuddin and Daniel McCuddin.

I worked with Vicki at Hillis Elementary until her retirement. She was a great colleague and wonderful friend. She will be forever loved and missed.
