Alice Hammann Tostberg Drury
CARLINVILLE - Alice Hammann Tostberg Drury passed away November 21, 2010 at Carlinville Rehab and HC in Carlinville. She was 88 years of age. She was born December 28, 1921 in Carlinville, the daughter of Herbert and Hulda Young Hammann. She married Joseph Tostberg September 25, 1948, and he passed away May 30, 1978. Years later, she married William J. Drury on August 18, 1988, who passed away March 15, 2002. Alice was a 1939 graduate of Carlinville High School and she worked as a secretary for the State of Illinois, Macoupin County Sherriff's Dept., and the US Dept. of Agriculture. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, a charter member of the Carlinville School Foundation, 4-H and FFA. Over 50 years of her life was dedicated to the Macoupin County Fair and Agriculture Association where she received numerous awards for her efforts. She was preceded in death by both husbands and 3 brothers, Warren, Herbert Jr. and Leonard Hammann.
Visitation from 4-7, Tues. Nov. 23, 2010 at Heinz Funeral Home. Service at 10am, Wed. Nov. 24, 2010 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ. Burial following at New Calvary Cemetery in Carlinville. Alice is survived by 1 sister Betty Kessinger of Carlinville, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Memorials to St. Paul's UCC, Carlinville Food Pantry, Macoupin County Fair Board.

Alice made the county fair what it was for so many years when our kids were in 4-H. She will be missed by many....but what a great legacy she leaves. Susy and David Woods

My deepest sympathy to the family of Alice. I know she was loved by many. I only knew Alice for a short time, but she always made me smile. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
