Alice Girdler Obituary
Virden, IL—Alice Mae Girdler, 81, of Virden died Sunday, July 28, 2019, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born February 5, 1938, in West Frankfort, IL the daughter of Lawrence and Violet Evans Griffith.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stan Girdler; brothers, Lawrence Griffith, David Griffith and grandson, Kyle Meisenheimer.
Surviving children: Vickie ( Scott) Lewis of Springfield; Ricky ( Dawn) Meisenheimer of Virden; Dawn ( Brian) Willoughby of Virden and step-son, Mitchell Girdler of Oregon. Two brothers, Danny ( Judy) Griffith of Girard and DuWayne Griffith of Virden; two sisters, Ida Beane and Elizabeth Joplin, all of Virden, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Life Gathering will be from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Saturday August 3, 2019 at the New Life Family Church, 303 Clover Lane, Auburn, IL with the Rev. Larry Griffith and Rev. Aaron Griffith officiating. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial of remains will be at the Virden Cemetery. To the family of Alice, I want let you all know how sorry I am for your loss. I worked with Alice at Dickey-john for years, but knew of Alice from my older brothers and sisters, be for working with her. Don't know why, but when I would see her at work, I would always say to her, Hi Alice oh Alice, Alice and then she's laugh. When being around Alice you couldn't help but smile and laugh and we did plenty of that! My family will miss Alice as well as anyone else that knew her! May God's love, peace and comfort be with each of you during this difficult time.
