Amy Rose Obituary
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Amy Jane Rose, 97, of Springfield, died at 3:03 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 28, 1919, in Springfield, to Earl and Edith Bean Gasaway. She married George Elmer Rose, Jr. on Feb. 14, 1938, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 2001.
Survivors include one daughter, Sue Ames of Springfield; one son, Ronald Lee (June) Rose of Petersburg; two grandchildren, Colette (Trent) Knoles and Heather (Russ) Witmer; four great-grandchildren: Jessica Knoles, Emily (Austin) Smith, and Lucas and Jenna Rose Witmer; one brother, Glenn (Nancy) Gasaway of California; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Bishop of Nixa, Mo., and Pat Boehnke of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Edith Ellen Schmitgen and June Porter; and one brother, Earl Gasaway.
Amy worked as a merchandiser for Sears for 30 years. She enjoyed traveling with Martha, playing Pinochle, sports games, fishing, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 10-11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at Staab Funeral Home- Springfield.
Funeral Service: 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at Staab Funeral Home–Springfield, with Pastor Casey McCormick officiating.
Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
