Anita Andres Obituary

Anita Andres

SPRINGFIELD - Anita Ann (Huff) Andres, 79, of Springfield, passed away peacefully at the Regency Nursing Care Residence on Sunday February 26, 2012. She was born May 24, 1932 in Cumberland County, Illinois. A self-professed "farm girl", Ann was the loving daughter of Clyde and Clydia Huff, and was graduated from Neoga High School. Ann moved to Springfield with her family in 1963 and was thereafter a lifelong resident of this City.

Ann was a deeply loving mother and grandmother, and was previously married to Kenneth L. Andres, who preceded her in death and with whom she had three sons who became the focus of her life. She is survived by her sons; J. Geoffrey (wife, Ellen) and J. Kelly (wife Suzanne), both of Springfield, and by her five lovely granddaughters Nicole, Katelyn, Lauren, Elsie and Maddie Andres. Ann was preceded in death by her firstborn son, Charles Theodore (Ted) Andres in 1987.

Ann was a woman of rare sensitivity and intellect, the valedictorian of her high school class and a lifelong student of language. She was an accomplished horsewoman in her day, and was at one time the youngest licensed pilot in Coles County, Illinois, logging air time in a bi-wing and other vintage planes of the 1940's and 1950's. Ann went on to be a highly successful manager in the fledgling Tupperware Products industry in the mid to late 1960's, earning "Golden Galaxy" status, managing as many as thirty Tupperware dealers and managers concurrently and contributing significantly to the Tupperware organizational structure in Illinois. She later retired from the State of Illinois, Department of Public Aid.

Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held immediately following the reception, with burial to be at 12:00 Noon on Saturday March 3, 2012 in Salisbury, Illinois. Services will be conducted by Pastor Jon Berg of the Atonement Lutheran Church in Springfield, and memorials in Ann's name may be made to the Atonement Lutheran Church at 2800 W. Jefferson in Springfield, IL 62702.

Kelly, Geoff and family, I was so sorry to hear about your Mom. She was a great lady, she was always good to me. I considered her my friend. She will be missed so much. I'm sorry I can't make to the funeral. I would if I could, but for medical reasons I just can't. My thoughts and prayers will be with you all.

Geoff, Kelly and Lisa,

Your families exemplify the essence of your Mom. May you find solace in your precious memories.

I like to think Ann is with those she loved dearly, who have gone before her; especially Ted. Such bright shining spirits have surely reunited.

"Jay & Kel,"
Cherished memories of your Mom's captivating stories flood my mind. Cooking with Ann was a joy. (Still use her "secret ingredients" when cooking certain dishes:-) Ann was kind, compassionate and so loving. I am truly sorry for your loss.

My wishes for all of you are abundant blessings and peace.

Warmly,

Lorena Johnson

Dear Geoff, Kelly and families. Your mother was such a wonderful and amazing woman and as I am reading her obituary I am learning even more about her. I probably knew of it but had forgot. I was so glad your mother and my mom became best of friends. They helped each other thru some very difficult times throughout their friendship. Thank God for all the wonderful memories we have and will cherish the rest of our lives.

To Ann's Family: Ann was such a joy... we have delivered books to your mom for over a decade. Reading was for sure something that brought her solace these last several years! I personally always enjoyed hearing her stories, she was such a PROUD grandma. We will greatly miss her.
