Beverly Buehner Obituary
Springfield, IL—Springfield resident Beverly Swanborn Buehner died peacefully Tuesday, June 26 in Springfield. She was 96. She is survived by her son John E. Buehner, his wife Molly Hall Buehner (Petersburg), and granddaughter Allison E. Buehner (Chicago); sister-in-law, Mary Sunderland (Quincy) and several nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John B. Buehner; parents, Edward and Evelyn Swanborn; four brothers, Melvin, Frank, Edward, and Robert Swanborn, and sister-in-law Betty DelaBar.
Beverly was born in Chicago December 9, 1921. She had a 20-year career at Illinois Bell in Chicago, then obtained a teaching certificate at Illinois State Normal University. On November 19, 1960, she married Dr. John B. Buehner, a podiatrist practicing in Beardstown, IL, where she later moved. On July 22, 1962, John and Beverly welcomed their son John E. Buehner. She completed her BA in Elementary Education (1975) and Masters in Education (1979) at Western Illinois University while teaching nearly 30 years in Beardstown schools.
Beverly was a devoted wife and mother, beloved teacher, and trusted friend. She was active in the Beardstown community, and later in Quincy, IL, where she and her husband lived for 22 years after they retired. They moved to Springfield in 2015. Beverly will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Visitation is 1:00 p.m. Saturday June 30 at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home, 823 Broadway in Quincy, followed by funeral service onsite at 2:00. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Quincy.
