Billy Joe was my cousin, son of my dad's sister. A truly sweet and nice person all his
life. I last saw him when I left Illinois in '85, but my sister, Nancy Smith kept in touch
with him regularly.
I'll always remember Bill saying "you-uns", and then laughing at himself for talking like a hillbilly. Rest in peace old friend.

I worked with Billy Joe at the Secretary of State's Automobile Division in the mid-60's. He was very friendly and helpful in the workplace. He and his associates always made me feel welcome and included me in their coffee and lunch group. He had a lot of friends and was highly respected. May he rest in peace!

I knew Billy Joe from the 7 and 8th grade in Cowden. Schools and friends changed locations many times over the years but we somehow remained in contact. We visited twice in the last 10 years in Springfield and the visits were both cut short because Billy Joe had other plans and friends to meet so I would guess he must have had an active social life and enjoyed living in Springfield. He will be missed.

Billy Joe was a kind, considerate and friendly Guy. I saw him often at the Sunrise restaurant until he could no longer live in his apartment. He will be missed by many. May he rest in peace and may the perpetual light shine upon him.
