PETERSBURG, IL - Blanche E. Hawks, 93, of Petersburg, Ill., formerly of Havana, Ill., passed away at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg, Ill., on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015.
She was born June 20, 1922, the daughter of John C. and Estella (Bridgeman) Fletcher in Bath, Ill. She married James L. "Pete" Hawks on Feb. 20, 1942, in Palmyra, Mo. He preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 2003.
Blanche is survived by one daughter-in-law, Carol (Dave) Connor of Petersburg, Ill.; four grandsons: James "J.J." Hawks of Springfield, Ill., Adam (Erin) Hawks of Morton, Ill., Michael (Beth) Hawks of Zionsville, Ind., and Tedd Hawks of Chicago, Ill.; two stepgrandsons, Scott (Jess) Conner of Woodstock, Ill., and Kevin (Christy) Connor of Columbus, Ga.;, and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Nick Hawks; and one brother, John K. Fletcher.
Blanche was a member of the First Baptist Church of Havana, Ill., Lakewood Golf Association and Easton Women's Club. She liked to golf and bowl.
A funeral service will be held for Blanche at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015, at First Baptist Church of Havana. Pastor Daniel Swihart will officiate.
A visitation will be held from 12:30-2:00 p.m. also at the church.
Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Petersburg, Ill.
Memorial contributions may be made to: First Baptist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
