Bobbie Lovelady Obituary
Springfield, IL—Bobbie Jean Ratliff Lovelady, 75, of Springfield, died at 9:20 a.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2018, at St. John's Hospital.
Bobbie was born on July 29, 1943, in Jackson, MS, the daughter of Joseph and Allie Collins Ratliff. She married Leorn Lovelady on July 27, 1963. She is survived by her husband, Leorn, of Springfield; sons, Joseph Lovelady of Atlanta, GA and David (Amy) Lovelady of Columbia, MO; several cherished grandchildren; and life-long best friend, Dr. Cora Benson.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield.
Funeral Ceremony: 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at Zion Baptist Church, 1601 E. Laurel, Springfield.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "The Bobbie Ratliff Lovelady Scholarship Fund" in person or via mail: c/o Amy Lovelady, 1913 Surrey Court, Columbia MO 65203; or via Venmo: @Bobbie-Scholarship.

Condolences to your family,friends and her students.
Mrs Lovelady touch so many lives. I was one of her students. Back at Grant Middle School in the 80s. She touched my life so much back then. She taught me so much. She was a blessing to so many students at that school. Thank you Mrs. Lovelady forgetting your students your all and then some. For all the learning and discipline and great last you gave us. And now you're in heaven looking down on us. Thank you for being a great teacher.

My condolence on the passing of Ms lovelady. With a heavy heart, I recall seeing her a few weeks ago, for the first time since the beginning of the school year, at Washington Middle School. May her soul rest in peace

The Lovelady family was such an integral part of my family and early childhood in Jackson ,Ms and Springfield, iL. The memories are endless. Y'all are the reason we lived in Springfield. My condolences to David and the rest of the Lovelady family. I remember Mrs. Lovelady from my days at Grant Middle School. While I never had her as a teacher I know she was one who cared about all the students at the school, not just the one's who were in her classroom. She shall be missed.

I always liked being around Bobbie. We taught together at Grant Middle School and had a few graduate classes together. She taught kids with many serious challenges and their lives were made better for the experience. She and Leorn lived a few houses away for several years and Bobbie and I worked together on a few projects for our graduate studies. I loved her sense of humor and we spent a lot of time laughing. She was a very special person. My sympathy to Leorn and their family.
