Carl R. Elshoff

SPRINGFIELD - Carl R. Elshoff, 79 of Springfield, IL passed away at St. John's Hospital on Friday, December 24, 2010 at 2:15 p.m. He was born on January 23, 1931 in Springfield to Vincent E. and Cecilia (Fischer) Elshoff. Carl married Margaret Simon on August 28, 1954 in McHenry, IL. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Antoinette Elshoff at birth, parents, step-mother Mary Hogan Elshoff and 2 brothers; Vincent and Richard Elshoff.

A resident of Springfield for the majority of his life, Carl met his one and only true love of 56 years, Margaret, whom he called "Maggie" while working in McHenry, IL. They married and began their family and lived there for 10 years then returned to Springfield. Carl graduated from Cathedral Boys High School in 1950 with high honors and was valedictorian. To our dearest Aunt Marge and cousins Tony, Debbie and Karen, and your families,
Your husband, father, grandfather, was always our dear uncle, kind and full of life, dad's little brother who was ready to share our best times but ready to be a good listener when we needed. He was always ready to share a good handshake and a hug at the same time. We will always remember him and never forget you in our prayers.

Dearest Aunt and Cousins,
Our near and far family gatherings were always full of what a wonderful life of memories we shared and this year they have added laughter amidst sadness. Your loss is a heavy one. The heavens have another father and godfather to energize the angels just as they humored us with their stories most recently in February. The twinkle in his eye will watch and guide over us. Those will never be just ordinary stars in the heavens any more. We send our love and continuous thoughts and prayers,
