SPRINGFIELD - Charles A. Kloppenburg, 92, of Springfield, died at 10:38 am, Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at St. John's Hospital. He was born February 16, 1919 in Springfield, to August and Mary Bansbach Kloppenburg. He married Elizabeth A. Carriger on October 10, 1944 and she preceded him in death on April 17, 1975.

His parents; one infant son, Joseph, one infant brother, Edward and two brothers Lawrence and Harold also preceded him in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Delores (Art) Lawson of Springfield and Kathleen Stapleton of Athens: one son, John "Jack" (Patricia) Kloppenburg of Ashland; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Burke of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Charles was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church; New Berlin Knights of Columbus Council #4372 and New Berlin American Legion.

He lived in the Springfield area all his life and was a retired farmer.

Visitation: 9-10 am, Thursday, September 1, 2011 at St. Joseph's Church

Funeral Mass: 10 am, Thursday, September 1, 2011 at St. Joseph's Church with Monsignor Thomas Holinga officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church or School.

Your Dad was a terrific man. I met him 8 years ago when I moved in across the street from him. He always had time to talk and always had a good story to tell me. I will miss him! May God bless you and may your memories of your Dad and your faith in God help ease your pain.
