Cody Morris Obituary

Cody Lee "Guppie" Morris 1991 - 2021
New Berlin, IL—Cody Lee "Guppie" Morris, 29, of New Berlin, died at 5:47 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at Memorial Medical Center.
Guppie was born August 8, 1991, in Springfield, the son of Greg and Cindy Sapp Morris.
He graduated from New Berlin High School in 2009 and was employed as the Superintendent of Streets for the Village of New Berlin. Guppie was one of the leaders of the SouthSide Socials Scooter Gang and enjoyed fishing, rock climbing, and fixing and riding scooters. He was very outgoing and never met a stranger.
All too often people are perplexed about if they're living life right. They're worried about advancing in their career or building personal wealth. In the grand scheme of things, none of those things matter. What matters is the impact you leave on this earth and the people who inhabit it. Gup did life right. He lived everyday and loved everyone. We truly lost one of the greatest souls who ever walked this earth. He was a fun, loving, adventurous man who really knew how to light up a room. His impact on this world has been noticed.
Guppie was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
He is survived by his parents, Greg and Cindy Morris of New Berlin; girlfriend, Shelby Roesch of New Berlin; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his best friend and beloved dog, Griz.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 25, 2021, at Knight of Columbus #4372 Hall, 715 E. Illinois St., New Berlin. Due to COVID restrictions, there will be limited capacity.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following ceremonies.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cody "Guppie" Morris Memorial Fund (c/o Marine Bank) or the New Berlin-Island Grove Fire and EMS, P.O. Box 224, New Berlin, IL 62670.
The family is being served by Butler Funeral Home-New Berlin, 714 E. Gibson St., New Berlin, IL.
