TAYLORVILLE - Cynthia I. Givens, 58, of Taylorville died at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at her home.
She was born Sept. 16, 1951, in Taylorville, the daughter of Wilfred and Ida Margaret Rogers Bateson. On Nov. 13, 1971, she married Robert L. Givens at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville.
Cynthia was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Vincent Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was a master gardener, very active with the food pantry, a member of the Divas, active with the Taylorville Area Arts Council and a former T.J.H.S. Terrier Booster.
She had been a dental hygienist for Dr. Ron Mizer, Dr. David Giovagnoli, both of Taylorville, and Dr. Hayes of Springfield.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Givens of Taylorville; daughter, Alexis Givens of Springfield; mother, Margaret Bateson of Taylorville; father-in-law, Hartzell Givens of Taylorville; and her faithful canine companion, Duffy. She was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Louise Givens.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville, with Fr. Alan Hunter and Rev. Tom Bellegante officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
