Dorothy Hosto Obituary
Sorento, IL—Dorothy Hosto, 69, of Sorento, died at 5:35 am, Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born September 24, 1949 in Highland to Cecil and Marie (Papp) Harmon.
She is survived by two sons, Steve Hosto of Kenney, IL and Jeff (Christine) Hosto of Maryland; two grandchildren, Athena and Lucas; two sisters Mary May and Susan Landolt and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dorothy lived in Springfield, IL most of her life. She worked in payroll at Humana/Doctor's Hospital and retired from Bunn-O-Matic. She was a Big Sister with Big Brother/Big Sister and volunteered at Food Banks. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed cycling. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Visitation/Celebration of Life: Sorento Firehouse Saturday October 27th 10:00 am - 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Research or to a local Food Bank.

To the children and grandchildren of my friend Dorothy Hosto, your mother and grandmother was a fearless, fun, witty, determined lady of true character. We hiked the mountains of Colorado and Tennessee, tromped all over southern Illinois, went to Illinois basketball games and generally had fun fun fun. I will miss her!

Dorothy and I became good friends in first grade and remained friends all our lives. I will miss her. I know she was fighting the battle with all she had. Deepest sympathies to her family.

I will always have the fondest memories as Dorothy was always the type of person to be kind and work hard with all her fellow employees she came across with at Bunn. May her soul rest in peace & her family know we are thinking of her always as prayers are sent out. I hope everyone there I worked with will say a prayer for her family & her tonight as she always reached out to all of us to help in that same kind way. You are a true Angel Dorothy! So sorry to learn that Dorothy lost her battle with cancer. She was a special friend when I worked at Bunn and a great canasta player! Her love of family was very apparent. Another one gone way too soon....
