CARLINVILLE - Emily Elizabeth Kahl, 94, of Carlinville died at 12:40 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.
She was born March 4, 1914, in Polk Township, the daughter of Raymond and Elenora Davis Hampton. She married Ralph Joseph "Rollie" Kahl. She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse; daughter, Eleanor Whitlow; sons-in-law, Grover Turner, Tom Whitlow and Jim Rosentretter; daughter-in-law, Ruth Kahl; brothers, Henry, Harold and Arthur; and sisters, Myra and Myrtle.
Surviving are her sons, William Kahl of Hettick, Robert Kahl of Woodburn, Delbert Kahl of Girard, George Kahl of Jerseyville, Walter Kahl of Clemmons, N.C., and John Kahl, James Kahl and Donald Kahl, all of Carlinville; daughters, Alice L. Turner of Louisiana, Mo., and Sue Bryant and Wilma Gibson, both of Gillespie, Judy Rosentretter of Sawyerville and Edith Reed of Shipman; four brothers, Eldon, Charles, John and Dale Hampton; sisters, Mary Cook, Martha Remus, Virginia McMahon and Jane Oller; 57 grandchildren; 113 great-grandchildren; and 44 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2008, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008, at the funeral home with Pastor Rachel A. Stockle officiating. Burial will be in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery in Carlinville.
