Eric Chiles Irwin 1946 - 2018
Salem, IL—ERIC CHILES IRWIN, 71, of Salem, IL died January 11, 2018 at St. Louis University Hospital.
He was born November 8, 1946 in Springfield, son of Harry and Marcella (Chiles) Irwin who preceded him in death.
Eric was an over the road driver, spending 50 years "running the road," and loving every mile he traveled. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Viet Nam War. He was of the Christian faith.
He married Helen M. Rodencal, November 28, 1998 in Salem, and she survives.
Also surviving are his daughters Kristina and Natalie, and a step-son, Scott Falletta, along with 4 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings.
Mr. Irwin requested to be cremated and be interred along with other family members at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
Military Honors will be accorded at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 31, at Camp Butler. Friends are welcome to gather with the family at the cemetery at 12:45 p.m.
The Irwin family invite friends to attend a Celebration of Life, February 10, from 1:00 -5:00 p.m., at the Navy Club of Sangamon Ship 32, 3100 Staton St., in Springfield.
Memorials may be made to the Donor's choice and will be accepted by the Rankin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 97, Salem, IL 62881, entrusted with the families care.
