He was integral in the development of fiber optics. He was actively involved with the VFW and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed woodworking, going to the beach, gardening, hunting, and camping. He loved the outdoors, storytelling, and sharing ice cream with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his four children, D'Ann Dineen (Eugene Sellers) Cox of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Dwayne Francis (Erin) Dineen of Farmersville, Debby Dineen (Toby) Baggett of Mobile, Alabama, and Daphney Marie (Craig) Randle of Springfield; eleven grandchildren, Teresa "ShyAnne," Frank, Rodger, Catherine "Catie," Jeremy, Joshua, Nicole "Nicki," Kacie, Francesca Anne "Chesi," Craig Jr. "C.J.," and Taylor "Cayne;" and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
