He was born on May 20, 1920 in Berwyn, IL, the son of Frank Joseph and Marie (Kozel) Hermanek.

Frank was united in marriage on February 15, 1947 in Aurora, IL to the former Helen Junkins and they spent the next 68 happy years together. Frank was an excellent woodworker and among his numerous creations were the toys that he annually made for children at Christmas. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Hermanek of Springfield, IL; his seven children, Judy Fairchild of Villa Park, IL, Linda (David) Hastert of Oswego, IL, Kathy (John) Wallanches of Hanover, IL, Ann (Mike) Cremeens of Springfield, IL, Debbie (Gary) Reidelberger of Springfield, IL, Mike Hermanek of Riviera Beach, FL, and Phil (Christina) Hermanek of Springfield, IL; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maryann Blakely of Bella Vista, AR and Carol Kolka of Plano, IL; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marie Hermanek; and his grandson, Jonathan Rickerl.

Our deepest sympathy to all of the Hermanek family. It was a pleasure to live across the street in Plano and we will always remember the great store that Frank and his family ran downtown Plano for many years. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
