Dear Mrs. Haddock, Eric, Julia, and family,
I'm so sorry about your loss. Although I never met Mr. Haddock, I have known Eric and Julia for many years and heard the immense love and respect that was always in Eric's voice when he spoke of his father.
Keeping you in my thoughts,

As a friend of Eric's, I'm glad that through much trial and adventure he was able to arrive in time for the funeral, but more than that I am happy to know how much he loved and cared for his father (and his father for him) in the days and years before.

I did not know Gary, but I know his son... which is a fine enough testament to his character as I need. Condolences for his loss.

I was stunned to hear of Gary's passing. He helped get me my job as editorial cartoonist at the Pike Press back in 1987, I remember him driving out to my mom's house to pick me up and take me to the newspaper's office to talk with Al Seiler. My condolences to his family.

Lonette and family,
I'm so sorry to hear about Gary's passing. My thoughts are with you and your familiy at this time. Even after his retirement many stories are still told about Gary around the press office at the Statehouse from his playing the pipes to his Tai Chi and Spanish lessons. He always brought a smile to our faces. He was truly one of a kind and will be missed by us all.

You have my deepest sympathy. Gary and I were classmates in Decatur. It was so good to meet you both at the State House Inn when we went to hear Debbie Ross.

We joined our families a few years ago, but it has been my great joy to share Gary's journey of memoirs this year. We have lost a master storyteller and stimulating & fluent writer. We have also lost a dear friend and wise advisor. Our deepest condolences to Lonnette, Eric and all the family.
