Helen Pauline Price
SPRINGFIELD - Helen Pauline Price, 80, of Springfield, died at 8:15 p.m., Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at her home. She was born June 27, 1933, in Springfield, to John and Della Yoacum Lairson. She married Robert L. Price, Sr., on March 1, 1952, and he preceded her in death on February 19, 1980. Also preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Robert Price, Jr., in 2002; one sister, Ruth Carter; and one brother, Charles Lairson.
Survivors include one daughter, Roxanna "Roxy" (Companion, Shawn Reeves) Price of Springfield; one son, Tyrone (Luan) Price, of Springfield; two grandchildren, Adam Price-Williams and Evan Price-Williams; former son-in-law, Darrell Williams, of Springfield; one brother, John Lairson, of West Plains, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
Helen was a member of St. Aloysius Church. She served as Chairman of Education with the American Cancer Society, past president of the Women's Republican Club, a member of the Eagles Club, Sangamon County Blues Club and volunteered for Catholic Charities.
She was a lifelong resident of Springfield and worked for the State of Illinois Department of Revenue. Helen was active in politics and worked as a press reporter.
Visitation: 3-5 p.m., Sunday, September 22, 2013, at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10 a.m., Monday, September 23, 2013, at Staab Funeral Home with Monsignor David Lantz officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
