Irene was a part of my family's life before I was even born. I will never forget all the laughs & good times we had on the Joiner farm! The Cannibal pigs I was never allowed to get in the pen with. Muppy Dog. Sledding in the moonlight. Riding in the grain trucks & being allowed to get in them & help push the grain down. Bottle feeding calves...and the terror of knowing I was eating hamburger made out of "Jake"! The way she always threatend to "unscrew my belly button and let my legs fall off" (which at 5 years old you aren't sure it can't be done!). The fun we had butchering (and the butcher truck that had to be parked just right to keep the leak in the tire on the bottom to keep the air in it!). Fishing back at the pond. I could go on & on! I will always remember her smile & laugh & how she made life fun every day! You couldn't be around her & not enjoy life. Her sense of humor & her zest for life was contagious! No matter how many times she was knocked down, she always got back up with a smile & made a joke about it. My greatest memory is the nickname she gave me, Wiggleworm. Even if it would cost me double the price, I will never take that off my license plate. That's now a tribute to the woman, farmer, friend & "other mother" who loved me as much as I loved her.
