My heart is broken...Br Joel "sneaked' my daughter after secret training to be the first girl server at St. Joseph's! He was the most kind person I have known. We have written letters for years, and I should have known something was wrong when I had not had a letter lately. I hope, as he had told me to be sure, that he wanted a blanket over him when he was buried as he didn't want to be cold. I promised him I would do that....Now I don't know what to do!

I worked with Brother Joel at the Tribunal office when he first started there. There was no one kinder.

We're so sorry to read of Brother Joel's passing. As newlyweds, we began teaching PSR at St. James with him. Then later on, I saw him frequently over at St. Francis Church after I became a Franciscan Lay Associate. Our deepest sympathy to his family and all the Franciscan family he shared life with for almost 44 years. May he rest in peace.
