JOHN IMBRA Obituary

John A. Imbra, age 88, Army Veteran of WWII with service in three campaigns; After returning from the war in 1946, John was signed by the Cubs Organization and played second base in the minor leagues for 8 years. Beloved husband and best friend of Mary Ann, nee Dion, for 52 years; loving brother of Mariano (the late Kathryn) Imbraguglio, the late Anthony ( the late Marjorie) Imbraguglio and Salvatore Imbra; dear brother-in law of Dolores (the late Walter) Sindewald and Edward (Marcella) Dion; dear uncle of many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly; cherished friend of many. John had numerous friends and family that he enjoyed spending time with. He will be missed by them all. Visitation Tuesday, 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, 8;00 a.m. until time of funeral 9:00 a.m. at Gibbons Funeral Home, 134 S. York Road (½ mile north of St. Charles Road), Elmhurst. Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Entombment Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Hillside. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Night Ministry, 4711 N. Ravenswood Ave., Chicago IL 60640-4407 or Honor Flight Chicago, 938 W. Montana St., Chicago, IL 60614-2409.
